The determination of 3-methoxy 4-hydroxy mandelic acid in urine.
A simple and accurate method for determining 3-methoxy 4-hydroxy mandelic acid in urine is described. The amounts excreted in urine in 24 hours by nine normal subjects and three patients with phaeochromocytoma have been determined.
متن کاملA comparison of methods for determining catechol amines and 3-methoxy-4-hydroxy-mandelic acid in urine.
The chemical laboratory measures used in the diagnosis of pheochromocytoma have been evaluated. Bio-assay, fluorometric, and spectrophotometric methods were used. Urinary VMA and catechol amine values found for normal and hypertensive groups compared well with those reported by other investigators. The quantitative measurement of urinary VMA by means of a proposed ethyl acetate extraction prove...
متن کاملThe Excretion of 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-mandelic Acid by Children.
Much interest has been shown recently in the urinary excretion of 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-mandelic acid (HMMA, but also known as VMA). It is accepted that its estimation may assist in the diagnosis of neuroblastoma and phaeochromocytoma, the high excretion usually found with these tumours being well above that possibly due to dietary constitutents, the stress of hospital admission, or recent operat...
متن کاملDEVELOPMENT OF A METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF 4-HYDROXY-3-METHOXYMANDELIC ACID (VANILLYLMANDELIC ACID) IN URINE BY PAPER CHROMATOGRAPHY
We have developed a simple and precise paper chromatographic method for the determination of 4-hydroxy-3-methoxymandelic acid (VMA) in urine. Concentrations of VMA in patients with neuroblastoma were increased in comparison to controls. The linearity was excellent in the concentration range tested. The within-assay coefficient of variation for control and patient urine was less than 2.2%. ...
متن کاملSimplified assay method for 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid in human urine by fluorometry and its normal value.
Estimations of human exposure levels to aromatic nitroand amino-compounds (ANA) are often made by Bratton-Marshall's diazo reaction. In Japan, the environmental conditions of the ANA industries have recently improved remarkably. The workers in ANA plants excrete somewhat higher levels of diazotizable substances in the urine than healthy controls and the contributory ratio of the exposed ANA sub...
